The "Thailand Premium – vaccination package including consultation with a travel medicine doctor" package includes, among others:
Off to Thailand? Make sure you're fully vaccinated against diseases that are common worldwide, such as tetanus, pertussis, measles and consider vaccinations against hepatitis A, typhoid fever, rabies and Japanese encephalitis, which could be a risk during your stay in Thailand.
Ensure yourself a comprehensive protection with the Thailand Premium vaccination package before travelling to Thailand, especially if you plan:
- a long-term trip;
- a stay in rural areas and/or during the rainy season;
- camping, cycling, hiking or other forms of leisure activities in places with limited access to medical care;
- activities involving potential contact with animals (e.g. volunteering, trekking, sleeping in tents) – a particular risk concerns children who are unlikely to report bites.
The package includes:
- a qualifying appointment with a travel medicine doctor for PLN 1,00;
- another qualifying appointment with a doctor or nurse in case of vaccination against rabies and Japanese encephalitis (before administering the second dose of the vaccine);
- vaccinations against:
- hepatitis A (a viral infection of the liver, one of the most common diseases in countries with tropical climates and poor sanitation; infection spreads through contaminated food and water, as well as dirty hands);
- typhoid fever (an acute infectious disease caused by the bacterium Salmonella typhi; infection spreads through contaminated food or water, as well as direct contact with an infected person);
- infectious diseases, such as tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis or tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis + polio, which cause serious complications – with the use of the combined vaccine; in Poland, vaccinating against these diseases is mandatory, but over time, immunity to some of them decreases and booster doses are then required – make sure you know when you were last vaccinated against tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis;
- rabies (2 doses) (a fatal infectious disease caused by a virus that affects the central nervous system, resulting from a bite or contact of broken skin with the saliva of an infected animal);
- Japanese encephalitis (2 doses) (a dangerous viral disease transmitted by mosquitoes, which can cause encephalitis and lead to serious neurological consequences).
During your appointment with a travel medicine doctor, you will receive personalised recommendations regarding vaccinations and health safety measures, taking into account your destination and planned activities, as well as advice on how to put together a travel first aid kit. The doctor will also prescribe anti-malarial medication (if necessary) and explain how to take it.
We recommend starting vaccinations 6-8 weeks before your trip.
In addition to vaccinations, it is important to remember about additional precautions, such as:
- use of repellents against mosquitoes (protection against dengue fever, Zika virus and malaria);
- avoiding the risk of gastrointestinal infections, i.e. drinking only bottled water, staying away from eating in unsafe places, brushing teeth with boiled or microbiologically treated water, washing hands thoroughly before each meal, keeping away from fruits with peel, salads, raw meat, etc.;
- avoiding contact with animals due to the risk of rabies.
The vaccination will not be effective if the patients:
- have an acute infection with severe symptoms, fever above 38.5°C or exacerbation of chronic diseases;
- have experienced a severe allergic reaction after a previous vaccination;
- have confirmed hypersensitivity to any ingredient of the preparation;
- are still under the protective effect of a previous preparation with an identical or similar immunological profile and the doctor concludes that the second dose is not necessary.
In such cases, the doctor postpones vaccination until the symptoms subside or the health condition stabilises, or refuses vaccination qualification if there are absolute contraindications.
