The "India Basic – vaccination package including consultation with a travel medicine doctor" package includes, among others:
India is a country of incredible cultural, climatic, and social diversity – but also one where hygiene and sanitary conditions can vary greatly, especially in less developed areas. The India BASIC package is designed for travellers who want to minimise the risk of gastrointestinal infections and update or receive booster doses of essential vaccines. It includes recommended pre-travel vaccinations, particularly those targeting diseases spread through contaminated food, water, or direct contact.
Protect yourself and your loved ones with the India BASIC package before traveling to India.
The package includes:
- a qualifying consultation with a travel medicine doctor for just PLN 1 (included in the price of the package) – During the visit, the doctor will assess health risks related to your trip and recommend appropriate vaccinations and preventive measures;
- vaccinations against:
- Hepatitis A – a viral liver infection transmitted via the digestive tract. The risk increases in areas with limited access to clean food and water. Often referred to as the "dirty hands disease";
- Typhoid fever – a bacterial infection caused by Salmonella typhi, common in India, particularly among people who consume local street food or drink unboiled water;
- Infectious diseases such as tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis or tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis + polio are taken care of through a combined vaccine that protects against three or four serious illnesses. A booster dose is recommended if your last vaccination was more than 10 years ago, due to waning immunity;
- Cholera – recommended based on the destination and nature of your travel activities. Especially important for travellers visiting areas with poor sanitation, participating in volunteer work, or having close contact with local communities in high-risk settings.
Who is the vaccination package for?
This package is designed for travellers heading to India – especially those planning to explore local cuisine, eat street food, travel beyond major cities, and stay in areas with lower sanitary standards.
During your consultation with a travel medicine doctor, you will receive personalised recommendations on vaccinations and health precautions tailored to your destination and planned activities. You will also get advice on assembling a travel first aid kit. The doctor will prescribe anti-malarial medication and explain how to use it. Malaria is endemic in many parts of India, with year-round risk – particularly during the monsoon season.
While the package is specifically tailored for travel to India, it is also suitable for trips to other South Asian countries such as Bangladesh and Nepal.
We recommend starting your vaccinations 6 to 8 weeks before your trip.
- In addition to getting vaccinated, it’s important to follow other key health precautions:
- Use mosquito repellents to protect against mosquito-borne diseases such as dengue fever, Zika virus, and malaria;
- Prevent gastrointestinal infections by: drinking only bottled, boiled, or microbiologically treated water; brushing your teeth with safe water (boiled or treated); washing your hands thoroughly before every meal; avoiding fruits with peel, raw salads, undercooked meat, and food from unverified or low-standard street vendors;
- Avoid contact with animals to reduce the risk of rabies.
Vaccination will not be administered in the following cases:
- The patient has an acute infection with severe symptoms, a fever above 38.5 °C, or a flare-up of a chronic illness;
- The patient has previously experienced a severe allergic reaction to a vaccination;
- The patient has a known hypersensitivity to any component of the vaccine;
- The patient is still within the protective period of a prior vaccine with the same or similar immunological profile, and the doctor determines that a second dose is not necessary.
In such cases, the doctor will either postpone the vaccination until the symptoms subside or the patient’s health stabilizes, or withhold vaccination entirely if there are absolute contraindications.
