Teeth whitening - recommendations and contraindications
Before teeth whitening
We recommend to remove plaque and take care of cavities before the whitening treatment, which will increase the effectiveness of teeth whitening. Please remember that after sandblasting, you need to wait at least 7 days at the earliest to proceed with whitening.
Teeth whitening should not be performed on:
- pregnant and lactating women
- people with intense tooth sensitivity
- adolescents up to 16 years of age (tooth development is not completely finished then)
- people with gum issues and periodontitis
Caution:
After the whitening treatment, it may be necessary to replace the fillings, which after whitening may have a different shade than the natural tooth tissues.
After teeth whitening
"White diet" applies immediately after the whitening treatment. Two hours after the procedure, you should drink mineral water only. Then, for 2-3 days, it is absolutely necessary to avoid foods and drinks that stain the enamel:
- red wine
- coffee
- tea
- berries
- cola
- carbonated drinks and juices
- beetroots
- fruit yoghurts
- dark bread and dark rice
Smokers should give up smoking for at least two days.
