The examination is performed by an optometrist specialising in the selection and application of contact lenses. To ensure patient’s comfort and satisfaction, the examination is divided into three half-hour visits.

- the examination is intended for children from 16 years of age and adults.

- a detailed examination for visual impairment and obtaining all information necessary to ensure comfort and safety when wearing contact lenses,
- exclusion of contraindications to wear contact lenses,
- scheduling of the second visit by a consultant and ordering of suitable test contact lenses.

- application of lenses and checking with a slit-lamp the position and behaviour of the contact lens (whether it does not mechanically irritate the eye, how it behaves on the eye surface when the eyeball moves and when blinking),
- instructions on how to insert and remove contact lenses correctly,
- instructions on how to clean and care for the contact lenses and eyes,
- asking questions to find out whether the patient feels comfortable when putting in and wearing contact lenses and how do they feel.

- takes place one month after the first application of contact lenses,
- asking detailed questions about the comfort of use,
- performing tests to check visual acuity when wearing the contact lenses and mechanical properties of the lenses (checking for signs of irritation of the cornea).
