Tooth X-ray. A patient must attend the examination with a valid referral and previous test results (if any).

Tooth X-ray - what is it for?

X-ray examination covers the area of 1-3 teeth. It shows crowns, root apices and tissues around the examined teeth. It is used to accurately assess the condition of the tooth and the tissues around it. This radiological diagnostic procedure involves X-raying the tooth. Usually, it is performed to determine the condition of the tooth roots.

How is the tooth X-ray examination performed?

It is performed using a phosphor plate (semi-digital radiology), an RVG sensor (digital radiology) or, rarely, obsolete analogue technology (X-ray film). It is used in all areas of dentistry.

We use two imaging methods:

• Cieszynski's Isometry - patient holds the detector with their finger in the mouth while the X-ray operator adjusts the angle of the lamp.
• Right angle technique - a set of special positioners is required.  The detector is placed in a positioner that the patient chews into. Thanks to the special caps on the tube, the angle between the lamp and the detector is 90 degrees.

Duration of examination: about 20 minutes

Preparation for the periapical tooth X-ray:

The doctor's referral to the examination is required

The referral should include:

• designation of the entity issuing the referral,
• patient details (full name, date of birth, sex, PESEL number, address and place of residence),
• surname and name(s) of the legal representative and the address of their residence, if the patient is a minor or a person incapacitated or incapable of informed consent
• purpose of and rationale for the examination
• preliminary clinical diagnosis of conducting a medical radiological procedure,
• signature and stamp of the person referring the patient for the examination or treatment.

A patient must attend the examination with previous test results (if any).
