Ophthalmologist

An ophthalmologist diagnoses and treats eye disorders. During the visit, the ophthalmologist conducts a medical interview, prescribes medication or makes referrals for further eye examinations, but does not carry out a fundus examination.

In terms of a consultation, the ophthalmologist:

conducts a medical interview and carries out an ophthalmological examination,
makes the diagnoses,
provides medical recommendations,
writes prescriptions,
makes referrals for laboratory and imaging tests/examinations,
issues sick leaves.

During the visit, the ophthalmologist can:

remove a foreign object from the eye (in simple cases),
remove the stitches and apply a dressing,
measure intraocular pressure,
inject the medication into the conjunctival sac.

The ophthalmologist can carry out:

an examination of the anterior and posterior segment of the eye using a slit-lamp,
a tonometry (intraocular pressure test),
a visual acuity test/examination,
a test/examination using an autorefractor,
a spatial vision test/examination,
a colour vision test/examination,
other tests/examinations as a consequence of the diagnostic process, at the ophthalmologist's discretion.

Please arrive 15 minutes before the visit at the latest and come to the centre's reception with your identity document.
The visit is for adults only.
The ophthalmologist will not carry out a fundus examination during the visit.
