A cardiac surgeon is a physician who deals with the surgical
treatment of the heart and blood vessels.In particular, the area of
its activity is the treatment of congenital and acquired heart
defects (including valve diseases requiring repair or replacement)
and coronary heart disease requiring implantation of the so-called
by-pass.

During the consultation,:
- takes the patient’s history and performs a physical
examination;
- makes diagnoses;
- provides medical recommendations
- prescribes drugs
- issues referrals for tests and examinations, consultations and
hospital treatments
- issues sick leaves.

Patients with diagnosed heart diseases - under the care of a
cardiologist or other specialist - should prepare medical
documentation on the current diagnosis and treatment, including
surgical treatment.
