Blood group and immune alloantibodies (anti Rh and others)

A blood test to determine the blood group and immune alloantibodies.

Red blood cells have many membrane antigens that are genetically determined and which determine the blood group. From the point of view of transfusiology and transplantation, the AB0 and Rh systems are the most important.

The determination of red blood cell antigens and the detection of antibodies to them is essential in preventing:

• post-transfusion haemolytic reaction,
• haemolytic disease of the foetus and/or newborn (in pregnant women with antibodies to the foetal blood cells) and rejection of the transplanted organ.

• The test consists of collecting blood into an EDTA tube in accordance with blood drawing procedures, disinfecting the skin, applying a tourniquet, and putting pressure on the site after the procedure, which lasts a few minutes.
• The blood drawing procedure takes several seconds.
• The test does not require any special preparation.
• The test should be performed in the morning.

• Results are available within 5 business days.
• You may collect your results at the reception desk of any Medicover Centrer.
