Glucose level measurements are used in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with carbohydrate metabolism disorders (diabetes, neonatal hypoglycemia, idiopathic hypoglycemia), as well as in monitoring diabetes therapy.

They are also indicated for preventive screenings (detection of diabetes and prediabetic conditions), as well as check-ups for patients from risk groups and pregnant women. An increase in glucose levels is observed in diabetes, pituitary and adrenal gland dysfunctions, pancreatic diseases, dialysis patients, and during pregnancy.

A decrease in glucose levels occurs in cases of insulin overdose, oral antidiabetic drug overdose, hormonal insufficiency of the pituitary and adrenal glands, congenital metabolic blocks, and toxic liver damage.

A few days before the test

• Do not drink alcohol 2 – 3 days before the test.
• Refrain from drinking coffee and tea for at least 12 hours before downloading.
• Eliminate the causes of stress as much as possible.

On the day of the test:

• The test should be performed 2 hours after a meal.
• Blood for the test is taken in the morning.
• Unless otherwise recommended by the doctor, blood should be drawn before taking your morning portion of medication.
• Rest in a seated position immediately before the collection 10-15 min.

• Survey result available in 3 working days. 
• Ability to receive the result in reception desk of any Medicover Centre. 
• Ability to access the result via the Internet in Medicover Online (you need to download the access password at the reception desk of the Medicover Medical Centre).
