Proctologist - consultation

A proctologist is a doctor who has the knowledge and skills necessary to diagnose and treat diseases of the colon and rectum. Common conditions affecting these body parts include:

• haemorrhoids;
• anal cancer;
• anal fissure;
• infections.

The specialist provides medical services to individuals who experience worrying symptoms indicative of one of the aforementioned diseases, regardless of the patient’s age.

During the consultation, the doctor:

takes a medical history and performs a physical examination; makes a diagnosis; gives medical recommendations; prescribes medications; issues referrals for tests, examinations, consultations and hospitalisation; issues sick leave.

Important information

The consultation lasts 15 minutes. Make sure to arrive at least 15 minutes before your appointment. The service can only be provided at the medical facility indicated at the time of purchase. The examination is performed with the patient lying on their left side, with their legs drawn up toward the chest. The doctor first assesses the appearance of the anal area and then, wearing a disposable glove and using an anesthetic gel, performs a digital rectal examination (so-called per rectum examination). If necessary, the examination is carried out using a specialized instrument called an anoscope, which allows visualization of the anal canal.

During a telemedical consultation, the doctor:

takes a medical history and performs a physical examination; makes a diagnosis; gives medical recommendations; prescribes medications; issues referrals for tests, examinations, consultations and hospitalisation; issues sick leave.

During a telemedical consultation, the doctor will provide any services that may be carried out remotely. However, when taking a medical history, the doctor may decide that an on-site consultation is necessary to make an accurate diagnosis and recommend the appropriate treatment.
