During the consultation, a physician:
- takes the patient’s history and performs a physical examination;
- makes diagnoses, provides medical recommendations;
- prescribes drugs;
- issues medical referrals for examinations, consultations, hospital treatments
- qualifies patients for preventive vaccinations.
During the appointment, a physician may perform an otoscopic examination (a physical examination of the ear using an otoscope, or auriscope). A paediatric consultation can be obtained by patients up to the age of 18 years.
A consultation lasts 15 minutes.
