In addition to assessing the intestine, it is also possible to take tissue samples for microscopic analysis and (if necessary) carry out minor procedures such as removal of polyps. The examination is carried out under general anaesthesia.
A referral from a doctor IS NOT required for the examination.

Colonoscopy is an endoscopic examination in which a flexible device with a visual track is inserted through the anus, which enables the view of the entire large intestine. The last few centimetres of the small intestine are also examined. During the examination, it is possible to thoroughly assess the inside of the intestine and (if necessary) take tissue samples for microscopic analysis or carry out minor procedures, such as the removal of precancerous polyps.
