For adults

Gastrologists deal with the diseases and problems of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract:the oesophagus; the stomach; the digestive glands; the intestines and the anus (e.g. reflux, chronic constipation, indigestion, ulcers, and pancreatitis).

Endocrinologists consult patients with diseases of the endocrine glands that secrete hormones, e.g. the pituitary gland, the thyroid gland, the adrenal glands and the ovaries, as well as with hormonal disorders.

The dietitian is a nutrition specialist.

A diabetologist is a doctor who specialises in the treatment of metabolic diseases directly related to carbohydrate metabolism (e.g. diabetes).

Dermatologists consult patients with problems of the skin and its appendages (hair, nails).

Surgeons qualify patients for operative treatment in hospital, e.g. in the case of varices of the lower limbs, the gallbladder, or abdominal hernias.

Allergists consult patients with allergic diseases (e.g. asthma, rhinitis, conjunctivitis, hives (nettle rash), food and drug hypersensitivity, sensitisation), qualify them for specific immunotherapy (desensitisation) and conduct such therapies during scheduled appointments.
